Why do laying hens need to replenish their light? How can I make up for it? I'll teach you how to do this

Chicken farming is a traditional farming project in rural areas, and currently, the majority of China's chicken farming industry is composed of small and medium-sized chicken farmers. As a chicken farmer, you should be very familiar with the fact that during the process of raising chickens, it is often necessary to replenish light for the flock, and there are also some requirements for replenishing light. So, what are the important things to pay attention to when raising laying hens? Why do we need to add light? Let's take a look together.

Why do laying hens need to replenish light

During the feeding process of laying hens, the influence of light is closely related to their growth and development. Generally speaking, under normal circumstances, laying hens generally require 16 hours of light per day, indicating that natural care cannot meet the 16 hour requirement under normal circumstances. Therefore, we need to manually supplement the light. Artificial lighting can not only stimulate the secretion of glandular hormones in laying hens, but also improve egg production rates. It can be said that supplementing light is to increase egg production rates. Therefore, supplementing light is very important.

How to replenish light for laying hens

Supplementing light to chickens during the brooding period, when they are in the growth stage, can promote their healthy growth by allowing them to eat and drink water as early as possible, thus promoting healthy growth.

The method of supplementing light usually adopts supplementing light at night, combined with adding feed and light to lure insects in one go. It is also possible to supplement the light at both ends, that is, twice in the morning and evening, to achieve the specified duration of illumination. This method is commonly used for chickens during peak egg production periods. If one supplement of feed cannot meet the needs of the peak egg production period, two supplements are required. That is, replenish 1/3 or 2/5 of the day in the morning and 2/3 or 3/5 of the day in the evening.

The intensity of light should be appropriate and should not be too strong or too weak. Excessive light can make chickens restless and prone to pecking habits. Sudden increase in light can easily cause abnormal eggs; If it is too weak, it will not have a stimulating effect.

It should be noted that artificial supplementation of light should be done to ensure that the light is basically stable and promote the corresponding improvement of egg production performance. Do not suddenly increase the lighting time, it should be gradually completed. Once the fill time is fixed, do not easily change it.

How to maintain the high usage rate of wet curtains during summer in large-scale layer farming?

Cooling down the chicken coop is a key task for many laying hens in summer. Wet curtain cooling is a commonly used method. In the process of using wet curtains for cooling, we often encounter sediment accumulation and microbial breeding due to inadequate cleaning and disinfection and sterilization of wet curtains, which will seriously affect the cooling effect.
